Narcolepsy Treatment

Narcolepsy Treatment

Narcolepsy is a neurological disorder that is caused by the brain’s inability to regulate sleep-wake cycles normally.  People who suffer from narcolepsy experience urges to sleep.  Often times, the urges feel strongly enough that people fall asleep for a few seconds to several minutes.  In rare cases, some people may remain asleep for hours.

Wesley D. Head, MD, FCCP, and the staff at the Northeast Georgia Department of Sleep Medicine has treated countless sleep disorders including providing narcolepsy treatment.  Our facility is fully equipped to analyze, diagnose and treat a wide range of sleep disorders for anyone seeking professional help.  Some of the symptoms of narcolepsy include the following:

  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Cataplexy (sudden loss of muscle tone that leads to feelings of weakness and a loss of voluntary muscle control.)
  • Sleep paralysis
  • Hallucinations
