Dr. Burns practiced for many years with Piedmont Internal Medicine Associates and Piedmont Physicians Group at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta where he also served as Chairman of the Piedmont Physicians Group.
Although Dr. Burns practiced for many years in Atlanta, he is no stranger to Gainesville and the Northeast Georgia area. His grandfather, Dr. J.K. Burns was a physician for many years in Clarkesville, GA. His uncle and cousin, Dr. J.K. Burns, Jr. and Dr. J.K. Burns, III, practiced medicine in Gainesville for many years.
