A registered dietitian is an expert in food and nutrition and a vital part of the healthcare team. The RD must complete the following education and training to meet credentialing requirements:
Many registered dietitians also hold an advanced degree and/ or additional certifications in specialized areas of practice. They also practice in a variety of settings. What services do registered dietitians provide? According to the American Dietetic Association, RDs provide a nutrition assessment, determine the nutrition diagnosis, determine and implement a nutrition intervention, and then in subsequent visits monitor and evaluate the client’s progress. Nutrition education for disease prevention and nutrition counseling (MNT) for chronic conditions provided over a series of visits are essential components of a comprehensive healthcare program. Our RD sees clients individually and/or in groups for a variety of diseases and conditions:
We also offer a resting metabolic rate test known as Medgem, which is used to help clients determine how much they need to eat to meet their weight gain or weight loss goals.
