![]() OncologistBy definition, oncology is the study of bulk, mass or tumor. An Oncologist is a physician who practices oncology. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with tumors (cancer). Oncology primarily deals with the diagnosis of any cancer in a person, the therapy treatments for the cancer (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc) and the follow up of cancer patients after successful treatment.An Oncologist diagnosing cancer will look to the medical history, the character of complaints and any specific symptoms a person is experiencing. These symptoms may include weight loss, fatigue, and fever of an unknown origin just to name a few. Some of the diagnostic methods include biopsy, endoscopy and xray. Once diagnosed, the Oncologist can decide which method is best for removing the tumor in its entirety.
